Let's get this right if the media, the House and Senate of the USA does not. Before the makers renamed these styles it was called a sub-machine gun. It is a sub-machine gun that was used by the empty-hearted, callous and brutal Mateen. He legally purchased a sub-machine weapon. How insane is that, to be able to buy and use at will, a sub-machine gun by anyone at all? We cannot forget what a semi-automatic has become in name. The most ardent hobbyist who know of these sub-machine guns understand the power of these machines and their bullets.
This type of mass-killing weapon has been on America's streets since it was called the 'tommy gun.' It was the first sub-machine gun used in 1919 in WWI. This sub-machine gun, which citizens, police, military, politicians, and the maker called it back then, was used during Prohibition by gangsters and US agencies like the FBI. It was never meant to be in the hands of the general public. For Reagan lovers, he said there was not a need for AK47 to defend yourself. Now, we call one model, AR15. Don't be mislead by a model's name. These are all sub-machine guns.
And let's be clear that the name and number that changes on models of these sub-machine guns vary like the names and numbers of today's cell phone being sold, but it still is what it is.... a sub-machine gun is meant to shoot numerous bullets in seconds with great force, and thus can kill as many as possible in a matter of seconds. Take time out to listen to the surgeons who worked on the Orlando victims.
The death counts from little children at Sandy Hook to Orlando in a matter of seconds, is certainly something that does not need to be proven. My brothers and sisters in Orlando are the latest witness to the military-power of bullets coming from a sub-machine gun.
What will the makers, the NRA and the inept Congress name the next sub-machine gun for the next generation of children? Will they sell one in blue, another in pink, another in rainbow colors so they can again make it appealing to purchase? We need to ban these specific sub-machine guns. We need to attack this one part of the issue with this solution, now. Even the police know this, as they defend themselves from sub-machine gun fire. So many claim how much they respect and care for the well-being of first responders, but I don't think deep down many care enough if they still think it is normal to possess a sub-machine gun.
We need to ban sub-machine guns. If you can donate a dollar to a cause, if you can post your sorrow, then you can post a letter to your congressional and senatorial seats on both state and federal levels. I do not propose banning guns, I propose banning sub-machine guns. I agree with the late President Reagan on this issue. We can protect gun rights, but we do not need military grade weapons in the general public's hands. Congress is turning it's back on the nation where most of our fathers and grandparents served to protect from us all from extremes. Sub-machine guns are an extreme in society.
