My life partner's mother, Eleanore DeLuca-Schugart had a most auspicious younger life as a dancer in Olsen and Johnson's traveling stage show, HELLZAPOPPIN' from 1940 through 1942. Her photographs of those years were kept in boxes, in a closet. This treasure called to me to place her memory out there for others to enjoy. What a fun and enriched youth she spent performing in one of the greatest successes of the 1940's. I thank her son, and daughter, my mate of 24 years, for allowing me to share part of their mother's story in what was truly a remarkable time in America's entertainment industry.
Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson went from vaudeville circuits in the 1920's and 1930's, to Broadway, then Hollywood, and in to television for a brief stints as summer replacements for Milton Berle. There will be links within the story.
