To anyone reading this: In November of 2015 I started seeing a professional RN Diabetic Counselor at our local health center. My healthcare professional suggested the option as I was starting to struggle with my A1C and I no longer wanted to take any medications. She placed me in a program that jumped my success rate for weight loss. I counted and charted total calories, fats and fiber intake daily. My daily goals at present is to eat no more that 50mg of fat; 1200-1600 calories; 25-35 fibers. I have lost a bit over 30 pounds in the 10 months. By sticking within the numbers, I lowered my A1C to 6.8 and have stopped all medication. I continue to stay with the program, and have had only 2 setbacks since starting out (set back meaning gained back 2 pounds). I want to lose another 30 pounds even though my A1C has improved with proper nutrition and smart food choices.
