![]() Please allow me to introduce to you Barbara Hope who holds a BA from Boston College, and a Th.M (Master of Theology) from Harvard Divinity School. She is also a mother to four children, now in their forties and fifties. As a member of the Centre Street Congregational Church, in Machias, Maine, she enjoys writing the occasional gospel and presents them for sermons. In her writing below, she shows us how easily the healing warmth of compassion can flow both from us, and in to us, regardless of having a faith in a God or not. Photograph by Jean Schugart Schild

A sensitive piece and the beginning reminds me of sleeping over at my Grammie Drabick's house & kneeling beside her bed on one of her handmade braided rugs repeating the prayers she said in Polish. Thanks for resurrecting that fond memory!

...a good reminder of how simple an act of compassion can be... I am left thinking of sending out a photo this year to someone who needed it without me knowing it.....

I am grateful to find myself deeply moved, re-inspired to live from the wellspring of compassion you describe so beautifully. Thank you for the light you have shared with us here, Barbara!
