- DURAGLAS... is a trademark/brand name applied to their typical container glass formula, introduced in 1940: Owens-Illinois Glass Company.
- This bottle is signed Duraglas on the bottom, dated 9-48. This bottle was made in September 1948. (see my photo) From what I have found online, I am guessing these 'star' bottles were made from the early 1900's to the early fifties. I have seen several from the 1920's. Flavored soda water became much more popular than drinking regular plain soda water in the 1920's.
- Diamond & O (oval) entwined/superimposed, with an I in center, looks something like an eye or the planet Saturn… Owens-Illinois Glass Company, head office Toledo, OHIO. It is written that his firm probably made more Coke bottles than any other glass manufacturer, at least during the 1940s and 1950s. Chattanooga would possibly be second place in total production.
- On the bottom of this bottle is the Diamond & O (oval) etc. (see my photo)
- See www.glassbottlemarks.com for more extensive information on bottle marks.
- Often the cap, or a paper label, was the only thing that identified the flavor inside the bottle. I think that is the case with this bottle. I do not think it was only a traditional bottle of only 'soda water' but a flavored beverage.
- Contents 6 FLUID OZ.; Property of G754 Coca-Cola Bottling Co.; PAT. DES. NO.70281. See more details on bottle in my photos.

My shard is from 1905+. I have not come across the trademark of Ridgways bow and quiver yet in beachcombing.
The bow and quiver trade mark was first registered in 1880 > without any place mark c.1880-1885 > with "Stoke-on-Trent" c.1885-1890 > with "England" c.1891+ > with "England" "Vitrified" c.1905+ > With "England" "Royal Semi-Porcelain" c.1912+ (thepotteries.org) Ridgway pottery has been made in the Staffordshire district in England since 1808 by a series of companies with the name Ridgway. The transfer-design dinner sets are the most widely known product. Ridgway became part of Royal Doulton in the 1960s. . Other pieces of Ridgway may be listed under Flow Blue. (kovels.com) http://www.thepotteries.org/allpotters/854.htm Here you will find trademarks from Ridgways onset in 1880. If not a direct link, type in their website to your browser to view. |
